ar X iv : n uc l - ex / 0 30 80 20 v 1 1 9 A ug 2 00 3 Elliptic Flow from Au + Au Collisions at √ s NN = 200 GeV

This paper presents results of elliptic flow measurements at moderate high transverse momentum in Au+Au collisions using the STAR detector at RHIC. Sizable v 2 is found up to 7 GeV/c in transverse momentum. Non-flow effects are discussed comparing correlations in p+p collisions and Au+Au collisions. v 2 from two-, four-and six-particle cumulant are shown and discussed.

An array of 3 He-filled proportional counters will be used in the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory to measure the neutral-current interaction of neutrinos and deuterium. We describe the backgrounds to this detection method.
